COVERAGE

Care may be funded through private pay, insurance, or public health benefits.

Private Pay

Companion care, personal care, and select nursing services are available on a private pay basis. For individuals whose services are not covered by insurance, care may be arranged directly. Please contact us for current rates and details.

Private Insurance

Most private health insurance plans include home health benefits that may cover services similar to those provided under Medicare or Medicaid. Coverage, copays, and plan requirements vary by insurer. Steps Homecare Services can assist in verifying your plan and coordinating benefits.

Long-Term Care Insurance

Many long-term care insurance policies provide benefits for personal or private care services, subject to policy terms. Our team can help determine whether your services qualify under your long-term care insurance plan.

Medicaid

Medicaid health insurance covers eligible medical and home health services for individuals who meet state financial and program requirements. Covered services may include skilled nursing and therapy similar to those available under the Medicare Home Health Benefit, when criteria are satisfied.

Medicare

Medicare’s Home Health Benefit may cover skilled nursing care, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and other services when all of the following are true:

• The individual is homebound and leaving the home requires significant effort or assistance.
• The care is medically necessary and ordered by a physician.
• The care is part-time or intermittent.
• Services are provided by a Medicare-certified home care agency.
